CALLING ALL YOUNG STRING PLAYERS !!! We took on board all the information sent back to us about how and when to set up the new orchestra. The result was as we expected – most of the junior players preferred weekly, weekday rehearsals and most of the senior players favoured longer sessions on Sunday afternoons. So, we launched the new "RYSO" in two separate groups, at the times suggested by the majority of players and their parents. Last November we are expanded it into three groups by launching an intermediate group, also rehearsing on monday evenings. We now cater for players from beginner level to grade 8. If you know of any young string players, (any age, any standard) please do encourage them to join us! Junior String Orchestra meets on Monday evenings from 6.00 – 7.30.
This is for players of "beginner" to Grade 2/3 standard and rehearsals take place weekly at the Cathedral Choir School.
The cost is £4 per session (with a reduction to £3.50 or £3, for 1 or 2 siblings).
Intermediate String Orchestra meets on Monday evenings from 6.00 – 7.30.
This is for players of Grade 2/3 - Grade 5 standard and rehearsals take place weekly at the Cathedral Choir School.
The cost is £4 per session (with a reduction to £3.50 or £3, for 1 or 2 siblings).
Senior String Orchestra meets on Sunday afternoons from 3.00 – 5.30.
This is for players of Grade 5 standard upwards and rehearsals take place fortnightly, also at Ripon Cathedral Choir School
The cost is £7 per session (with a reduction to £6 or £5, for 1 or 2 siblings).
New Members: If you would like to join any of the new String Orchestras, please email us ASAP to let us know your details. New members are welcome any time but it is always better to start at the beginning of a term.
Rehearsals this term:
Junior & Intermediate RYSO: ( Mondays, 6.00 - 7.30 at the Choir School)
Rehearsals for this term are as follows:- 12 January, 19 January, 26 January, 2 February, 9 February, 23 February, 2 March, 9 March, 16 March, 23 March.
Senior RYSO: (Sundays, 3.00 - 5.30 at the Choir School).
Rehearsals for this term are as follows:- 25 January, 1 February, 22 February, 8 March, 29 March
Harrogate Competitive Music Festival - We expect Junior & Intermediate RYSO to enter for this festival in 2009.
European Festival of Music for Youth, Neerpelt, Belgium - We hope the Senior RYSO might be able to take part in this amazing Festival in April/May 2009. If you are not already a member, join NOW - or you might miss out on this! It is the biggest youth music festival in Europe, and a fantastic experience! Check it out on www.emj.be

Players already registered with us will receive information by email - and, even of you are not a member of RYSO or if you cannot play with us regularly, it is worth registering (by email) so that we can send you information about a whole range of events and so that you can claim your discount concert tickets etc.
NB Members are all expected to attend regularly and should not miss sessions unless this is absolutely unavoidable.
