The St Cecilia Orchestra does not have a "membership" as such and we do not rehearse regularly. Rehearsals are scheduled over 1 or 2 weekends prior to each concert and the players are invited, according to the forces required, from a large "pool" of instrumentalists from all over the north of England. We include many professionals, semi-pros, teachers, gifted amateurs, students and talented schoolchildren. The minimum standard is a good grade 8 and, obviously, we expect players to have a fair amount of experience and a high level of commitment and enthusiasm.
